TIMEX is launching limited BAYC watches

Rolex is the brand that comes first to mind when talking about exclusive and expensive watches. Of course, there are several other exclusive brands and some of their watches are even more expensive. Timex is an all-American company founded in 1854 that is not so well-known in Europe.

What are the BAYC watches and which exclusive features are waiting for NFT owners?

A limited edition

Only 500 watches are going to be sold. Buyers can choose to style the watch starting with a Bored Ape or Mutant Ape painted on the dial. Only holders of an NFT can chose to style their watch using their exclusive PFP. Holding a BAYC or MAYC is not necessary to buy an exclusive time piece.

The price reflects the fact that two of the most exclusive NFT brands are involved. Still, with $2,500 the price is on the lower end of the spectrum when compared to other exclusive brands that are available on the market. It appears that the offer has caused a debate of how exclusive these watches are. Some observers seem to speculate that the limited edition could seen an increase in price in the future. Other comments are less optimistic because Timex is not the first company offering to show off NFTs on a time piece.

Another factor that comes into play is that Timex is not exactly known for exclusive time pieces. Some of the low-end models start at around $70 and while the brand is well-known in the US most people probably won’t be impressed since these watches are very common.

Tag Heuer offers an NFT viewer

NFT holders looking for an alternative in the same price range might be interested in the Tag Heuer “Connected Calibre E4”. It is possible to connect a wallet with the watch and select any NFT that is held on it.

Fans and investors can show off their favorite NFTs without being limited to a specific collection. Both products from Tag Heuer and Timex are paying testimony to the fact that non-fungible tokens are indeed exclusive and a market that is worth to explore by offering their respective products.

Prices for “blue chip” NFTs have dropped during the bear market but are still relatively high. With the cheapest BAYC still costing around $84,000. It remains to be seen if collections that were hyped throughout the bull market of 2021 have the potential to retain their value.

Since the new Ordinals protocol allows people to attach data files to specific satoshi's, the demand for Bitcoin blockspace has gone up. These files, some of them big, drive up the fees too. Some Bitcoiners welcome this, while others scoff at the idea of jpegs on their holy chain.
